Offices BWS
Perched high above Midtown Manhattan with panoramic views across the New York skyline, this office for a private hedge fund was conceived as an alternative to the conventional corporate workplace. The client's ambition was simple: to create an environment that offered the comfort, warmth and familiarity of a home rather than the formality of a traditional office.
The project draws on the spatial qualities of residential architecture to create a workplace that feels calm, welcoming and timeless. Private offices, meeting rooms and collaborative spaces are organised around generous proportions, natural light and carefully framed views of the city, encouraging both focused work and informal conversation.
Natural materials, warm timber, textured finishes and bespoke furniture replace the visual language typically associated with financial institutions. Soft furnishings, curated objects and carefully considered lighting contribute to an atmosphere that supports long working days while maintaining a strong sense of comfort and wellbeing.
The result is a workplace where architecture prioritises the experience of the people who inhabit it, demonstrating that professionalism and comfort can coexist within the same environment.
