Roccia Nera Development

Roccia Nera Development

Nestled in the Val d'Ayas at the foot of the Monte Rosa massif, Roccia Nera is a collection of apartments and chalets conceived to redefine contemporary mountain living in the Italian Alps. Inspired by the residential culture of destinations such as Verbier and St. Moritz, the development combines the comfort and services of a boutique hotel with the intimacy of a private home.

The architecture draws on the traditional Walser language that characterises the region, reinterpreting its proportions, materials and construction principles through a contemporary lens. The buildings sit in quiet dialogue with the surrounding landscape, where timber, stone and natural light shape an architecture rooted in its context.

Designed as a complete residential experience, the project extends beyond the individual dwelling to include shared amenities and communal spaces that encourage year-round living. Throughout the interiors, a restrained material palette and carefully crafted details create warm, understated environments where craftsmanship, comfort and the alpine landscape remain the true protagonists.
