Designed for a family of five, this six-storeys Victorian townhouse in Notting Hill brings together the character of a period home with the practical needs of contemporary family life.
The original architecture establishes the rhythm of the house. Formal reception rooms, generous ceiling heights and carefully proportioned spaces have been preserved, while discreet interventions introduce the functionality, the flexibility and the generous storage required by a growing family.
The house is organized around the rituals of everyday living. Cooking, reading, gathering, playing and resting each find their own place, creating a sequence of rooms that evolve naturally throughout the day.
Natural light is a constant presence, moving through the house from morning to evening and giving each room its own atmosphere. The material palette remains quiet and enduring, allowing the changing seasons, family life and carefully collected objects to become part of the architecture itself.
The house has received international editorial recognition, having been featured in House & Garden and published by Beta Plus Books. It was also selected as the location for Zara Home's Autumn 2019 campaign, with a number of the photographs subsequently featured in Colin King's acclaimed book Arranging Things.
